Harry poter and the chamber of secrets relating to Medusa

Currently i watched Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets. Well I was watching it i noticed many things in that that relate directly back to Greek mythology. In the plot of the movie we find out that the villain " monster" Harry potter has to fin a way to kill is a snake. Just like in geek mythology Medusa's head was made up of snake and if you were to look her in the eyes you would turn to stone. In Harry Potter they altered it a little in the fact that if you were to look the gigantic snake in the eyes you would instantly be killed. It is not a direct match to Medusa but a very similar story.

In Greek mythology it is said that Medusa was over powered and killed when Pereus used his mirror like shield to be able to look at Medusa with out being killed to try and kill her to save his mothers life. In Harry potter the snake is not killed by Harry using a shield or mirror to kill the snake but earlier in the movie another character (Hermina) uses a mirror to to look at the snake. In the movie this does not kill her but it does paralyze her unlike in Greek mythology where looking at Medusa's reflection Pereus is not harmed.

In the end of the Greek myth Of Medusa Pereus is able to kill Medusa by cutting off her head. once her head was detached from her body Pereus was able to look at her and take her head with out being killed. In harry potter harry also takes out the snakes eyes so he is able to fight him looking at him dead on with out being killed. In both Harry Potter and the Greek tale of Medusa both "hero's" take out the one thing their enemy (the "villain") had to use against them so they are able to beat them in the "battle" they have.
